| Fabric painting is a great way to add color to your hand embroidery designs and after it is heat set it holds up well after many washings.
BASIC:. 1) Transfer Design 2) Paint 3) Embroider 4) Heat Set Two Minutes

A. Transfer design B. Shake paint well. C. Iron freezer paper to the back. This holds fabric in place and prevents bleed through. D. Use your favorite paint brush. E. Test paint on fabric scrap, some paint will run on one fabric and not on another. F. If paint runs, paint first with a light layer and when dry paint another light layer. G. Allow paint to dry before painting next color (speed up drying by heat setting) H. When paint is dry, embroider using two or three strands and a darker shade floss than the paint. I. Heat set for two minutes, using a cloth or paper towel on top and underneath. J. When painting bold colors, some can leave the fabric stiff. Mix 1 part paint to ½ part water and stir well. The following colors can make your fabric stiff Sky Blue, Flesh 2, Orchid, Lavender & Grass Green |

First paint softly all over, then go back and darken for shading or richer all over color. E. When paint is dry, embroider using two or three strands and a darker shade floss than the paint. F.
