| Crayons are a quick and easy way to add color to your hand embroidery designs although they tend to lighten up after washing.
After transferring your design to the fabric, iron a piece of freezer paper to the back side and color the design with a regular color crayon. When colored the way you like, lay face down on a piece of paper towel and iron the back side with a hot iron for about 10 seconds (this sets the wax onto the fabric). If you would like to add a little more color simply color again and heat set when you are done. Hint, don't color to heavily since it will make the fabric stiff. When you are finished peel off the freezer paper and embroider all the lines of the design with embroidery floss. When embroidery is finished lay work face down and using a pressing cloth or plain piece of paper on the back side, heat set for 30 seconds. This further sets the color to make it more washable.
